If we were to list Android biggest problems, we would certainly start with the fragmentation. The OS major updates never come soon enough, for various reasons. Today a new distribution chart was disclosed, and unfortunately, Android Pie, the most updated version of the OS, has not yet appeared.
The latest distribution gives Oreo a 1/5 of the market with 19.2% in total by combining both the 8.0 and 8.1 release. Nougat still has the biggest piece of the cake with 29.3%. Worth noting that the 7.x version is starting to lose the market for the Oreo's cookie version.
When it comes to Android 9.0 Pie, the latest version is yet to make its way to the Android distribution chart. Worth noting that currently just a few smartphones are officially running Pie, and these can be counted on fingers: Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL, Essential Phone, OnePlus 6 and Nokia 7 Plus.A
