Apple MacBook Pro, Studio Display and other products' shipments delayed until August
The Chinese industry recently took another hit by the recent surge of COVID-19 cases in the country and the new lockdown. If the problems with the supply chain were bigger enough, the situation has negatively impacted it again. Earlier this month, 9to5Mac reported that new Macbook Pro orders and even existing orders that started in February were delayed until July. Now, Apple's MacBook Pro, along with other products like the iMac, Mac Studio, and Studio Display is suffering delays. The shipments of these products are now delayed until August as the supply chain issues persist.
In early May, there was feedback from users who ordered a custom configuration of the 16-inch MacBook Pro in February. Their order was previously delayed. However, they got another update from Apple, saying that the devices won't ship until late June or early July. A new delay also includes, apparently, even the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models. Now, they're even reaching July 28 at the latest. Purchasing components also results in more delays. If you purchase the Apple M1 Pro or Max chip, memory, or storage, the shipping time will hit August 8.
Apple's website seems to be suffering from the stocks shortage of Apple MacBook Pro and other products
Worth noting that the availability directly from Apple's official website seems to be the worst one. Several retailers including Amazon, Adorama, B&H Photo, and Best Buy now stock various MacBook Pro configurations. Alongside the new MacBook Pro, the Mac Studio and Studio Display will also ship from Apple at the end of August. The standard model of the iMac is available immediately. However, if you upgrade the memory or storage, it will delay the product until August.
There is no delay with the 13-inch Apple M1 MacBook Pro. Moreover, the M1 MacBook Air will be available as a stock model from Apple in a week or so. However, if you upgrade the memory or storage again, it will delay the delivery by a month. As with the MacBook Pro, there are other Macs available from Amazon and other retailers at the time of this article writing. We previously thought that the supply of mini LED panels may come as one of the issues with the delay in MacBook Pro shipments. However, with the wider range of Apple products like the iMac, Mac Studio, and others experiencing long wait times when upgrading Apple M1 chips, memory, or storage.
Curiously, in a previous report, Tim Cook was expecting the chain issues to disappear. Or at least was waiting for a major relief, now, the situation's future is unclear. Furthermore, the problems will cost between $4 billion to $8 billion this quarter.
We are curious to see if this will affect the upcoming iPhone 14 series or other upcoming products such as Apple's Mixed Reality headset.
