Apple Paused Working On Under-Screen Camera And Focuses On Face ID

There have been too many rumors concerning Apple and its project of under-screen camera. That’s why we have been thinking that in the near future the Cupertino-based company will bring an iPhone powered by this technology. However, the recent leaks prove that this company is no longer working on an under-screen fingerprint scanner for the iPhone.

It turns out the rumors as Apple is working on an under-screen camera sensor for the iPhone were true. The company spent a few years on this project. But in January, Apple decided to move all efforts put on the Touch ID to the team working on Face ID.

While it might sound illogical, in fact, all this makes sense. We mean when the iOS 15.4 beta was pushed to the users, we learned that now it supports Face ID unlocking with a mask. Almost all Apple products will support this feature in the future. So, if an identification solution works perfectly, why the company shouldn’t use it now.

Apple has taken the bar too high. We mean as it designs premium products and they cost a fortune, everything on them should work with no serious bugs. In this sense, if the Face ID solution is not ideal yet, it’s better to work on them, test them through updates, and put in the final products when it is ready. Then, the company can switch to other projects.

We can say the same for the under-screen camera. There are already a few Android models that support this technology. Agree that it’s not ideal yet. But none of the brands has the popularity of Apple. And if there are bugs, it wouldn’t affect their brands’ authority. Apple can’t afford the luxury.

Anyway, this doesn’t mean that Apple is not going to launch an iPhone with an under-screen camera. Of course, no. We guess the first notch-less iPhone will come after a couple of years. Honestly, Apple could bring the under-screen camera to the iPhone 13 Pro. But it contradicts the company’s philosophy. So the first iPhone with no notches and bangs is going to be the iPhone 15 Pro.

If nothing accidental happens, the Cupertino firm will launch the iPhone 15 Pro with an under-screen camera around September of 2023. But as there is a long time to wait, everything might happen. We only know that the Apple fans have been waiting for this for a while and they really want it.
