“As soon as the next week, the firm will start the first assembly. And next year, I hope, it will reach the parameters of the volume of work, comparable to the period when Renault was there,” said Sobyanin.
As he said, the Moscow authorities plan to launch a Russian platform for producing electric vehicles in two or three years. This is in line with the words of the general director of the “Moskvich” plant, Dmitry Pronin. He said that by 2025 the plant plans to make its own platform for producing electric vehicles.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said that cars should be cheaper for Russians. This is important in the current situation.
The factory will produce "state-of-the-art" vehicles. Among them, we will find a sedan and four crossovers. But we have no info on what types of electric vehicles “Moskvich” will produce.
This factory's roots go to 1930. Once Renault acquired it in the early 1990s. The production line of "Moskvich" cars stopped. In May, following Renault's withdrawal, the plant was handed over to Moscow authorities.
