From our last week poll, 69% of our voters think that the Xiaomi Mi 8 Youth Edition will be a "hit" although 14% believes that the company is out of ideas and 17% simply"don't care".

The type of display that comes with a smartphone has been an issue of debate since the advent of OLED screens. Generally, there are two options, LCD or OLED. However, both displays have their shortcomings.

LCD displays are cheap to manufacture, conserve power and have no burn in risks. iPhone XR was recently released for $749 and the price tag was feasible for the company because the device uses an LCD display. The other 2018 iPhone models with OLED display (iPhone XS and XS Max) costs above $1000.

Although OLED displays are more expensive to manufacture and its presence can significantly increase the pice of a smartphone, it delivers an excellent natural colour reproduction, superb viewing angles and deeper blacks. However, it also run the risk of screen burn-in but very few OLED smartphones like the Pixel 2XL has been reported with this issue.

Since LCDs are free from screen burn-in and are cheaper, many smartphone enthusiasts stick with the LCD. Nevertheless, we cannot deny the beautiful display appearance tht you get with OLED.
