From our last week poll, 45% of our voters would rather have a wired headset while 31% choose to have a Bluetooth headphone. Another 21% prefers to have both and can use any depending on the occasion.
This week, we are looking at the ideal price of a flagship smartphone. Please note that this poll does not consider your ability to purchase the phone, it only seeks to know the price tag for your ideal flagship smartphone irrespective of the technology used.
The smartphone manufacturing industry has evolved over the past few years and technology is ever increasing. The more we demand from OEMs, the more they require us to pay after the smartphone is released. Apple seamlessly slaps $1000+ on its smartphone and the supposed "cheap" iPhone XR costs a whopping $749. Samsung is not far behind Apple as its devices easily reach the $1000 price tag too. Huawei is gradually pricing its devices like Samsung and Apple. Looking at it's recent Huawei Mate 20 series flagship, the cheapest smartphone in the series is the Huawei Mate 20 which launched for $900+.
Chinese OEMs (except Huawei) have been more considerate with pricing and their tech/durability are massively improving. Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 and Mi 8 series both have a launch price below $600. Even the unavailable Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 10GB RAM Forbidden City version was launched for 4999 Yuan ($721), the same price as the OPPO Find X. The flagship OnePlus 6T has a less than $600 starting price and vivo NEX cost less than $700 at launch.
Manufacturers are forced to bring in new technologies (some very expensive) to a smartphone to make it a flagship. However, do you think all this tech are worth it considering the fact that we will have to pay out of our nose to have them? So then, what's your ideal price tag for a flagship smartphone? What's the best worth you think a smartphone should have? Cast your vote in the poll below and if there is anything else you need to add, please use the comment.
