LG G5 will receive Android 8.0 Oreo after all

The LG G5 was one of the greatest promises of 2016 as the first smartphone to deliver a modular experience. However, the phone wasn't well received by customers, and when Motorola presented the world with the Moto Mods, the LG G5 modularity turned obsolete. Despite all the controversies, LG in a surprising move will deliver the Android 8.0 Oreo update for the smartphone.

The LG G6 was contemplated with the latest Google's cookie, and the LG V20 is expected to receive the update towards August. The third member of LG legacy to receive the acclaimed Android update will be the 2016's flagship LG G5.

Apparently, the first batch of Oreo update will be delivered to the eligible smartphones in South Korea, followed by a wide rollout some weeks later. The evidence for this information comes by the fact that LG already posted the Android Oreo kernel sources for three specific LG G5 models - F700K, F700L, and F700S - all launched in the company's homeland.

Even though that news will enlight the hearts of LG G5 owners, we can't estimate when the company will deliver the update. However considered the Kernel Source release as one of the last steps before a release, it should be imminent. Despite the "flagship" status towards the LG G5, it's really surprising to see the update coming two years after the release of the smartphone. Of course, Android Oreo will be the last update for this particular smartphone.
