Ubuntu fans have a choice of tablet to chose from now with the release of the first commercially available Ubuntu powered tablet.
Canonical have strong ties with both Meizu and Spanish manufacturer BQ, and in fact released the world’s first Ubuntu powered phone with BQ before Meizu. BQ and Canonical have another first today with the launch of the first commercially available Ubuntu tablet named the Aquaris M10.
The tablet features a 10.1 inch 1920 x 1200 display, with a modest quad-core Mediatek MT8163A chipset and just 2GB RAM. The tablet also features an 8 mega-pixel rear camera with dual LED flash, an unusual feature on a tablet, 7,280mAh battery, WIFI, but no LTE.
If need me the tablet can be hooked up to a keyboard, mouse and display and be used as a desktop, although the basic hardware means you will limited to simply applications.
Pricing will be around the $280 mark with plans to offer the tablet in numerous markets around the world.
