China Unicom are pretty good pals with Apple now, as they have been the official carrier for iPhone’s since the iPhone 3’s launch in China back in 2009.
That partner ship looks to be getting an extension in to next year, with in China Unicom insider claiming that they Chinese carrier has already received iPhone 4S test units and have already applied for a network license to sell the phone.
A rumored launch date of the end of the year has also been mentioned.
If China Unicom do manage to get the iPhone 4S they will become the first official carrier of the new iPhone, which will more than likely upset their larger and more powerful competitor China Mobile, who have been losing subscribers left and right since China Unicom landed the original iPhone deals!
