Tablet PCs are getting cheaper by the day. Many thought of tablet PCs as devices meant only for consumers of media, but with the advent of cheap Windows licensing (free, in most cases), prices of Windows tablet PCs that allow you to actually get work done have plummeted.
The Cube iWork 8 Ultimate is another such device. It's only $85, but seems to offer a lot for that... at least on paper.
To start off, the iWork 8 has an 8-inch 1280 x 800 pixel IPS display, an Intel Atom X5-Z8300 processor which gets 2GB of RAM and 32GB of on-board ROM to work with, 2 mega-pixel camera on the front and rear respectively, and a 3300mAh battery.
You'll be able to hook the tablet up to your monitor and make a slightly more comfortable work station (with a keyboard and mouse attached), but for the most part, the iWork 8 Ultimate should be an on-the-go productivity machine that doesn't cost much.
It comes with a microSD card slot, along with an HDMI port, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a micro USB OTG port. The achilles heel here, I feel, is the battery; but for $85 the iWork 8 Ultimate seems like a nice companion during travel.
