GooPhone X1 set to be world’s cheapest quad-core phone at less than $100

Chinese phone/clone maker Goophone are best known for their knock-off iPhone and Samsung products, but they also make some low-cost phones of their own design such as the super affordable Goophone X1.

The GooPhone X1 will be sold at 499 Yuan here in China ($81) making in the world’s most affordable quad-core phone. The X1 will come equipped with a 4.7-inch FWVGA (854 x 480) display, 1.3 mega-pixel front and 2 mega-pixel rear cameras, 1.2Ghz quad-core MT6589 processor, 512mb RAM, dual SIM support, 1800mAh battery and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS.

The 499 Yuan price tag is part of a deal with local phone providers, customers wanting to buy it off contract will have to pay the slightly higher price of 593 Yuan ($97). No word on an international release, but we imagine the GooPhone X1 will be available through certain online resellers.
