Does China really need another smartphone brand? Jelly Mobile believe yes and in particular there is room in the market for a low-cost Qualcomm equipped device like the Guomobile G1.

The Guomobile G1 is Jelly Mobile’s first smartphone to hit the market and to really hit the ground running the company are offering early adopters a low intro price of just 800 Yuan! The G1 is an all alloy bodied phone with dual SIM support, a 5-inch qHD Amoled display, 1GB RAM and unknown quad-core Qualcomm processor.

The phone runs a custom version of Android 4.2 which Jelly are calling CM, and we believe might get them in to a spot of bother with CyanogenMod as they too will be entering the Chinese phone market soon with the help of OnePlus and investors Tencent.

Other details include 2000mAh battery, 8 mega-pixel main camera, and dimensions of 141 x 70 x 7.9mm at a weight of 135.6g. Network support includes WCDMA and GSM, unfortunately there is no 4G LTE.

We agree with Guomobile’s desire to increase the number of Qualcomm equipped Chinese Android smartphones on the market, but did they really need to produce a HTC One clone as their first phone? Does this young brand really want the stigma as being a clone maker follow them around?
