Hands-on with a couple of Android iPad mini clones at Sino CES

Sino CES has attracted companies from all over China, and it didn’t take us long to come across a couple of Android powered iPad mini clones.

The 2 iPad mini wannabes shown here were on show at the Julong booth at Sino CES. The first of the 2 mini Android tablets is almost a 1:1 replica of the original iPad mini. The display is a 7.8-inch unit the the white plastic body features the familiar iOS physical home button.

Under the hood a quad-core MT6589 processor runs a modified version of Android 4.2 which gives the tablet a similar to layout to iO6. As Julong have opted for a MT6589 processor you can also insert a SIM in the tablet to browse the web over 3G or even make voice calls.

The second tablet comes with a slightly smaller 7-inch panel, features an alloy rear shell and does away with the physical home button in favour of full onscreen controls. The alloy bodied tablet lacks 3G, but this is reflected in the price.

Speaking of pricing both tablets are quite affordable with the 3G enabled quad-core model costing just 1100 Yuan ($179) while the smaller 7-inch device was around 700 Yuan ($113).
