Alexa voice assistant is one of the most widely used assistants worldwide. Amazon estimated that in 2020, 25% of US households had at least one Alexa device, and that number rose to 27% for Amazon Prime subscribers. Since Alexa is designed to be family-friendly, she doesn't automatically swear, but there are a few tricks to get her to do so.

Amazon's voice-activated virtual assistant Alexa can do a variety of things, from reading you the news to turning off the lights, depending on the devices you connect to her. Even though Alexa is just a tool, you can still have some fun by tricking her into swearing.

Several workarounds to make your Amazon Alexa swear

Here's how to make Amazon Alexa swear

Here are some ways to make Alexa swear:

Make Alexa swear using the announcement Function:

Your message spread across all Alexa-enabled devices in your home when you use Alexa's announcement feature. The announcement feature on Alexa can be in use in two different ways: either she broadcasts what you say in your voice exactly as you said it, or she reads out a message you typed in the app.

  1. Launch the Alexa app on your smartphone.
  2. Click on "Communicate" (the speech bubble icon at the bottom)
  3. In the top right corner, click "Announce."
  4. Type your message.

Make Alexa swear using routines function:

You can order Alexa to perform an action when you call it using the Routines feature. You can type out what Alexa says, just like when you use the announcement feature, so you can make Alexa swear by using altered or phonetically similar words. How to create a routine is as follows:

  1. Launch the Alexa app.
  2. Select "More" (the three lines)
  3. Choose "Routines".
  4. Pick "Create New Routine"
  5. Choose "When this happens" and enter your routine's trigger there. Click "Voice," for instance, and enter "swear." then click Next.
  6. Select "Add Action"
  7. Select "Alexa Says"
  8. Select "Customized"
  9. Type out your swear word
