Is it time for Xiaomi to start shaking in their boots? Huawei believe so as their $160 Hongmi killer breezes through certification!
Xiaomi’s success has also painted a target on their back, and finally after months of hanging around Chinese tech giants are pulling the trigger. The first real attack came from ZTE’s Nubia Z5S Snapdragon 800 phone which went on sale at the same low price as the Xiaomi Mi3, now it’s Huawei’s turn!
Huawei are aiming at the entry-level Hongmi with their phone the Honor 3C which has just received its network license. According to details the 3C has the latest quad-core MT6588 chipset with an alleged 2GB RAM! Other unconfirmed details include an 8 mega-pixel rear camera and 5 mega-pixel front plus a magnesium alloy chassis.
With hardware like that the Huawei Honor 3C the Xiaomi Hongmi with it’s 1GB RAM and older, slow and more energy hungry MT6589T chipset could finally be in trouble!
Pricing for the Huawei Honor 3C is rumoured be around 999 Yuan ($160), a little more than the Hongmi but still a good price considering the hardware.
