Huawei Nova 9 / Pro Officially Launched, Starting At 2699 yuan ($418)

Following the schedule, today, Huawei released up to 7 new products, including the Huawei Nova 9 series. Huawei's Nova series has experienced 5 years and 8 generations of products. It has been always aiming at young people.

A Huawei executive revealed that as of now, the number of Nova smartphones sold worldwide exceeds 190 million. He also said that the Huawei Nova 9 comes with HarmonyOS out of the box. As of September 22, 2021, more than 120 million users have upgraded to HarmonyOS. At present, 400+ application and service partners, 1700+ hardware partners, and 1.3 million+ developers have participated in the construction of HarmonyOS ecology.

Earlier, the same exec said that the Huawei Nova 9 took more than a year of preparation. There are two Huawei Nova 9 smartphones – the vanilla version as well as the Pro version.

In terms of appearance, the Nova 9 series brings 4 new colors, namely the No. 9 color, the classic forest, provence and bright black. The rear shell continues the Nova 8 star ring design. But now it is more compact and the vision is more refined.

The Huawei Nova 9 Pro comes with a 6.72-inch large screen. The thin and light 3D hyperboloid glass body fits the 1 billion original color screen. The left and right borders are invisible, bringing a stronger immersive visual experience. Moreover, Huawei Nova 9's 6.57-inch screen touch is continuously improved, bringing you 300Hz multi-finger touch, pixel-level precise correction, and touch ultra-high-resolution technology.

Both phones have a resolution of 2676x1236, a 75-degree ring screen design, support P3 color gamut, etc. By the way, the Nova 9 Pro also supports a 120Hz high refresh rate, and can be adjusted between 60-120Hz.

In terms of weight, the Nova 9 has a thickness of 7.77mm and a weight of 175 grams, and the Nova 9 Pro has a thickness of 7.97mm and a weight of 186 grams.

Also, the Huawei Nova 9 Pro continues coming with a powerful selfie camera. Now, there are two 32MP lenses on the front. Thus, there is no difference what kind of shooting you need - ultra-wide-angle shooting or portrait shooting - the phone is capable of providing a high-definition picture quality.

Apart from higher resolution lenses, the Huawei Nova 9 upgrades SLR portrait selfie shooting and front-facing slow-door functions. So when taking selfies, you will always be in focus while the rest of the photos will be blurred.

As for rear camera, the Nova 9 series features a 50-megapixel super-sensing image unit. The 50-megapixel main camera’s sensor size is 1/1.56 inches. So the light input is increased by 40%. It is the largest sensor in Huawei's Nova series.

The phones come with an XD Fusion ultra-clear image engine, which can record high-quality details in different light environments. Of course, it supports Huawei's flagship super-sensitivity RYYB array.

Also, the Huawei Nova 9 Pro is ideal for Vlog recording. The Huawei Nova 9 Pro supports ultra-wide-angle 4K video, low-light video, AIS+3D portrait stabilization, front slow motion and time-lapse photography, 3Mic sound tracking, etc.

Under the hood, the Huawei Nova 9 Pro hosts the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G 4G chip. Also, it comes with a 4000mAh battery that supports the first generation of 100W Huawei super-fast charging. Due to the latter, the battery can be fully charged in 20 minutes.

As for the Huawei Nova 9, it has the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G 4G chip. But the battery capacity is 4300mAh, though it supports only 66W charging.

This is a 6nm process chip with an 8-core architecture. The large-core A78 core’s frequency is up to 2.4GHz. Also, the processor integrates an Adreno 642L GPU core.

In terms of heat dissipation, the Nova 9 Pro also supports a 360-degree surround-type liquid-cooled heat dissipation architecture. It uses a dual VC liquid-cooled heat sink + ultra-high thermal conductivity graphene heat sink, and AI intelligent dynamic adjustment. So during gaming, the fast heat dissipation will cool down the phone in seconds.
