According to reports from Nikkei Asian, Chinese manufacturer, Huawei, plans to launch the world's first 5G smart TV this year. From the report, this TV will be equipped with 5G modules and high-end 8K resolution displays, which means that the TV will be able to use the 5G network for high-traffic data transmission to complete the playback of ultra-high-definition video content - including VR or AR video contents.
There have been several speculations regarding Huawei TV, but the company has denied most of the comments. Prior to this, Huawei's consumer business CEO, Yu Chengdong, once said that Huawei does not do home appliances. He added that Huawei will not do traditional appliances but in the AI era, Huawei will definitely do smart speakers with screens.
At the Huawei analyst conference held in late April, Shao Yang, chief strategy officer of Huawei's consumer business, said that the promotion of "TV" product technology has been going on, but there was no market preparation in the first half of the year. Reports out of China speculated that Huawei will launch the Huawei TV lineup in April this year. It also said that the company has a 55-inch (display from BOE) and 65-inch (display from Huaxing Optoelectronics) TV.
