Wickedleak launched their ultra-affordable octa-core smartphone, the Wammy Neo Youth a few weeks back for just 8500 INR ($140), which apparently made other local OEMs rethink their strategies. iBall seems to have worked out theirs, and have launched the octa-core iBall Andi 5K Panther.
The Andi 5K Panther comes with a 5-inch 960 x 540 pixel quarter-HD display, underneath which sits the octa-core 1.4GHz MediaTek MT6592M chipset, that we earlier saw in the Xiaomi Redmi Note's lower spec'd version. Complete specifications of the Andi 5K Panther can be found below:
Specifications
- 5-inch 960 x 540p display
- 1.4GHz octa-core CPU
- 1GB RAM
- 8GB on-board ROM
- 8 mega-pixel rear camera
- 2 mega-pixel front camera
- 1900mAh battery
- Android v4.4 KitKat
- Dual SIM
At just 10,500 INR or $171, the iBall Andi 5K Panther looks like quite a fair deal. The device is very similar in specifications to the Lenovo Golden Warrior A8 that we recently talked about, barring the fact that the Andi 5K panther doesn't come with LTE.
We're certainly starting to see many more exciting devices come from India than ever before. Do you think it is exciting enough to give the Chinese scene some competition?
