LeEco Le 2 (SD652), Le Max 2 launch in India

LeEco Le 2 (SD652), Le Max 2 launch in India

As expected, LeEco announced the Le 2 and the Le Max 2 in India earlier today. Both phones had previously been launched in China. There's however a different version of the Le 2 that lands in India.

The Le 2 that'll sell in India comes with a Snapdragon 652 processor, 3GB RAM and 32GB of ROM. This is different from the China version (hands on with it here) which comes with a Helio X20 SoC. Quite clearly, LeEco are after Xiaomi and their Redmi Note 3 with the Le 2. The Le 2 has been priced 11,999 INR ($180), which in all fairness, is a really nice price to pay for a device like that. Full specs of the phone include a 5.5-inch 1920 x 1080p display, a 16 mega-pixel rear camera, 8 mega-pixel front facing camera, 3000mAh battery and a USB Type-C port that doubles up as an earphone jack (i.e., no 3.5mm analog output).

The other Le phone to see the launch in today's event was the Le Max 2. Powered by a Snapdragon 820 and up to 6GB RAM, the Le Max 2 will sell for 22,999 INR ($345; 4GB/32GB) and 29,999 INR ($450; 6GB/64GB). Full specs of the Le Max 2 include a 5.7-inch 2560 x 1400p display, 21 mega-pixel rear camera, 8 mega-pixel front facing camera and a 3100mAh battery. The Le Max 2 too lacks a 3.5mm earphone jack.

Both phones will be available via LeMall and Flipkart. LeEco have been pushing for offline sales in India -- which remains to be of utmost importance in the market -- and the Le 2 and Le Max 2 are expected to show up on brick-and-mortar stores soon as well, despite there not being an announcement for the same. Interestingly, there's no sign of the Le 2 Pro in India yet.
