Microsoft Executive Confirms The Extinction of Windows Phone

Many were dismayed when news broke that Microsoft executive, Joe Belfiore used an iPhone and a Samsung Galaxy S7 as his main smartphones throughout his 9-month leave of absence from Microsoft. It was unusual because Belfiore played an important role in the development of Windows phone. As of now, he uses a Samsung Galaxy S8 loaded with Microsoft software and many still wonder why a man will abandon his creation for someone's work.

Today, Belfiore finally spoke on the reason he has a Galaxy smartphone instead of a Windows phone. He said that Microsoft has done all they can with apps but users are just too low for companies to invest.

He further stated that Microsoft will continue to support other mobile platforms but sadly, the company is no longer concentrating on the development of new features for Windows Mobile.

Windows Phone is a group of mobile operating systems developed by Microsoft for smartphones. Its first creation was Windows Phone 7 which was announced at a Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, seven years ago. In 2015, Windows Phone was replaced by Windows 10 Mobile which emphasizes a larger amount of integration and unification with its PC counterpart. However, this product has slowly lost relevance in the smartphone industry.
