Quality smartphone names are rare. How many times have you seen a phone named after the company, with a string of numbers or letters after it? The typical, boring nomenclatures are common with smartphones nowadays, but finding a smartphone with a unique name and unique software experience is still a cherished rarity. In a market in which the latest and greatest specs and features are standard, having a “little something extra” cannot hurt.
Which is why the latest news regarding ZTE subsidiary Nubia is even more impressive. The company has unveiled a new smartphone at a European conference in Prague, but the name is a little refreshing: the new smartphone will be called “My Prague,” and it comes in two versions: the My Prague (original) and the My Prague Elite.
Nubia has pulled out all the stops with this new personal phone: the Nubia My Prague is 140 grams light, 5.5mm thin, features dual-SIM card slots (nano-SIM and micro-SIM compatibility), USB On-The-Go (USB OTG) charging, fast charging that provides 5 hours of talk time on just 10 minutes of charging, supports 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz 802.11ac Wi-Fi bands, and is compatible with Telefonica, T-Mobile, and Vodafone networks.
The Nubia My Prague has a 5.2-inch, Super AMOLED display with a Full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080p (424ppi), an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor, 2GB of RAM, 8MP front camera, 13MP back camera, AK4375 Hi-Fi audio, 16GB of memory storage, with a microSD card slot that provides up to an additional 128GB. Those who want the My Prague Elite model will find 3GB of low-power, double data rate (LPDDR3) RAM and 32GB of memory storage. Both will feature a 2,200mAh battery that provides 426 hours of standby and 27 hours of talk time.
The My Prague (original) and My Prague Elite will come in white/silver and white/gold colors and will cost 349 euros (My Prague) and 429 euros (My Prague Elite), respectively. Although, as the source below suggests, the Nubia My Prague resembles a world-famous smartphone in its design, the My Prague’s microSD expandable storage, 8MP front camera, 13MP back camera, Hi-Fi audio, Super AMOLED panel and octa-core processor, along with the personal nomenclature, provide reasons as to how different Nubia’s latest truly is.
