OnePlus started in 2013, and released their first ever phone -- the OnePlus One in 2014. Since then, the young brand has released 3 phones -- newest being the OnePlus 3 -- but with one exception.
The exception being the OnePlus X, which wasn't really the spec-sheet king. It was essentially a 'lifestyle' phone with the guts (pretty much) of a OnePlus One. While there definitely turned out to be takers for the phone, OnePlus seem to be unsatisfied still.
Which is maybe why the brand revealed that it'll now pull the plug on budget phones (the OnePlus X series) and release only full-blown flagships.
OnePlus CEO Pete Lau revealed that to Engadget, saying that the company had no plans of following up on the OnePlus X series.
What this means is that there's a good 10-12 months before the next OnePlus phone, which might just turn out to be too long a wait.
