OPPO begin vanilla Android ROM rollouts with the OPPO Find 7

After announced a few weeks back that it would be supporting its existing ColorOS powered phones with AOSP-like ROMs, OPPO has rolled out the first few vanilla Android ROMs.

OPPO's calling this the 'Project Spectrum'.

Clean ROMs for the OPPO Find 7 and the 7a have been made available and can be downloaded by following this link to the OPPO Community Forums. Note that the ROM is still in beta and you may encounter bugs.

OPPO has also put together a demo video explaining Project Spectrum, which you can find here.

Here's what OPPO think of the project:

Project Spectrum is our new name for the AOSP ROM.

It is a system that is developed to combine the best of ColorOS and Stock Android. It is easy to install, fast, and comes with the most essential ColorOS features:

  1. Our outstanding and updated ColorOS camera application
  2. MaxxAudio
  3. Screen-off gestures, such as double tap to wake

Other than that, it is free of bloatware to keep it as agile as possible.

It is indeed nice to see OPPO offer such features to its users, since the ColorOS ROM can be a little to Chinese for users of their phones outside China.
