Oppo has just released another member of the capable Oppo R17 mid-range series of smartphones, this time not in India, not in China, but in Japan. Dubbed the Oppo R17 Neo, the new entrant as noted by Gsmarena appears to be a variant of the Oppo K1 and R15X, which are partially based on the Oppo R17.

The major selling points of the device is its in-display fingerprint sensor, and coincidentally, it is the first of its kind to arrive in the Japanese smartphone market. The Oppo R17 Neo comes fitted with a 6.4-inch (2340 x 1080 pixels) Full HD+ AMOLED display with waterdrop notch, 91% screen-to-body ratio, and is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 coupled with Adreno 512 GPU, 4GB of RAM, and 128GB of expandable storage.

The water-drop notch is home to a 25Mp camera with a couple of AI features, while there is a dual 16MP + 2MP with LED flash on the flip side.

The Oppo R17 Neo gets dual 4G VoLTE, a USB Type-C Port, Bluetooth 5.0 LE, and a slightly larger 3600mAh battery with OTG support. The handset measures 158.3 x 75.5 x 7.4 mm and weighs 156 grams. The mid-range Android handset is available in Mocha Red and Astral Blue gradient colour options, and similar to the Oppo R17, the R17 Neo runs on the ColorOS 5.2 UI based on Android 8.1 Oreo.
