I'm not even sure if I can use the word 'gradually' when talking about the falling prices of tablets from China. Companies like Pipo, KingSing, etc. are taking complete advantage of Microsoft's relaxed rules on Windows licences to dish out tablets that are dirt cheap in the literal sense.

Up until now, it was the KingSing W8 that came to mind when you talked of budget tablets. The Work W4 stretches the 'budget' term to new levels, with the Work W4 that costs only US$81 (499 Yuan in China). You could argue that companies are working on making existing tech cheaper instead of investing in innovation, but hey, welcome to China.

The Work W4 has an 8 inch display that comes with a 1280 x 800 pixel resolution, pretty respectable for a tablet of that cost. It's powered by the Intel Atom Z3735F CPU along with the usual set of 1GB RAM and 16GB ROM.

It also has a 4,500mAh battery that keeps the internals powered. Video calling and elementary photography on the Work W4 can be carried out thanks to a 2 mega-pixel rear camera that's paired with a VGA front.

The Work W4 looks like one for those who want a taste of a Windows tablet before splurging on a more expensive one.
