Galaxy S11 might get Snapdragon 865 for most regions

Samsung primarily makes two different versions of its flagship Galaxy S and Galaxy Note series for different markets. The United States and China usually get the Qualcomm Snapdragon version, whereas other markets like the company’s home country, South Korea gets the electronics giant’s own Exynos-powered variant. However, that might change with the Galaxy S11 series as Samsung could be selling Snapdragon 865-powered variant in all the regions except for Europe, as per a new report.

This piece of unusual information comes directly from The Elec which says even South Korea will get the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 variant of Galaxy S11. If this report ends up being true, Samsung will be ditching its home-grown Exynos chipset in its premium smartphones for the first time in a long time. The report clearly does not mention the regions which will be getting the Qualcomm variant but it does say almost all markets except for Europe.

Samsung announced the Exynos 990 SoC as a successor to Exynos 9825 which powers the current generation premium smartphones made by the company. But the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 is much more powerful than Exynos 990. Maybe, that could be the reason for Samsung to opt for the former silicon wafer on its Galaxy S11 series which is expected to launch, as per latest speculation, on February 18 next year. That being said, Samsung is yet to comment on this wild speculation.
