Samsung denies rumors about ending development of Exynos chips

Samsung Electronics commented on the rumors that appeared on the Web that the development of proprietary Exynos processors for mobile devices may be discontinued. The South Korean giant said that this information is not true.

So, recently, rumors appeared on the Internet that Samsung plans to stop the development of the Exynos chip family in favor of a new project. Allegedly, by 2025, a new series of Galaxy processors for smartphones, tablets and other gadgets should launch. Samsung denied this information.

“We are currently re-engineering our system-on-a-chip (SoC) business model and developing a strategy to improve competitiveness in the medium to long term,” said Pee Jae-gul, vice president of Samsung System LSI.

He also added that Samsung intends to expand the use of branded mobile chips. The will find applications in wearables, laptop modems, and Wi-Fi products. To this end, cooperation with industry partners will expand.

Also, Strategy Analytics estimates that in 2021, the share of Samsung processors in mobile devices was 6.6%. The first three places went to Qualcomm, MediaTek and Apple; which accounted for 37.7%, 26.3% and 26% of the market, respectively.

It is worth mentioning that Samsung is preparing to organize the next Galaxy Unpacked event on August 10th.

So, Samsung will unveil the Galaxy Z Flip 4, Galaxy Z Fold 4, Galaxy Watch 5, and Galaxy Buds 2 Pro at the next Galaxy Unpacked 2022 event. Samsung currently only offers the Galaxy Earlybird To Go service in South Korea.

In addition, the company will be accepting applications from July 28 to August 3, with the lucky winners announced on August 8, 2022. Also, according to Samsung, 1,800 people will be able to go through a lottery system; and products will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Users cannot choose which products they will be able to test. New devices will be available for testing within three days, after which they must return to Samsung. Users will be responsible for any damage or loss of gadgets. The company also warned that after the return period, the device may be subject to functional restrictions.
