Samsung Exynos 6 to feature 64-bit processing, Galaxy S5 might be the first to flaunt

According to sources, Samsung's homegrown 64-bit Exynos processor is 'almost complete', and the Korean giant might well be on their way to a release in the first half of 2014.

After Apple showcased their 64-bit A7 chipset in the Apple iPhone 5S a few weeks back, more than a handful companies have shown interest in producing a 64-bit chipset of their own. Mediatek's next-gen chipsets which will be using ARM's Cortex A50 cores, NVIDIA's Tegra 6, even China's own AllWinner will have upcoming chipsets based on the 64-bit computing platform.

It is expected that the Samsung Galaxy S5 will be the first one to show off the yet-unnamed Exynos 6 series chipset. Apart from 64-bit processing, the upcoming chipset is expected to have a 14nm architecture which promises great battery life and minimal power dissipation. Unlike the current Exynos chipsets, the upcoming Exynos 6, which will have Cortex-A53/A57 cores, will be able to have all 8 cores operating simultaneously.
