The 5 Best Smartphones of 2022 in My Opinion

2022 has been a great year for smartphones. To be honest, I think it was the year when smartphones became highly competitive. And that brought out tons of amazing phones. So, it was tough for me to choose the best smartphones of 2022.

But to give you a little background, I liked the smartphones that pushed their value proposition. In other words, I preferred the phones which offered the most without raising the price tag too much. And with that factor in mind, these are the ones that I think are the best phones of 2022:

Google Pixel 7 - The Camera Beast

Google stole the show this year. Yes, the Pixel 7 Pro is better than the regular Pixel 7. But I think that the Pixel 7 offers the most value. Hence, it makes the first entry in my best smartphones of 2022 list.

To be exact, I was well amazed by its camera performance. Now, in case you didn’t know, the pixel cameras left behind most of the other flagships in a blind camera test held by MKBHD. And I am definitely looking forward to Pixel 7a.

Motorola Moto X40 - The Flagship Killer

In a separate discussion, I have already talked about the Moto X40 in brief. And if you read that post, you already know that I think it is the true flagship killer of 2023. It really is! The value that the phone offers is truly amazing.

In short, it comes with all the flagship-level specs but without the flagship-level pricing. And I strongly believe that the phone will get tons of attention when Motorola launches it internationally.

Asus Zenfone 9 - The Best Compact Smartphone

Asus deserves a spot in this list of the best smartphones of 2022 for the Zenfone 9. While most smartphone brands were making large-sized phones, Asus went a different route. It made the best compact phone of 2022.

Now, I know for a fact that the phone has a great price tag too. It offers a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, a 50MP primary camera, and up to 16GB of RAM for eye-catching pricing. The phone even offers a great battery life. And it should really be on your list if you have been looking for a compact beast.

Xiaomi 13 - The Best of All Worlds

As a current user of a Xiaomi phone, I got pumped up when the brand released the 13 series. But while everyone was talking about the 13 Pro, I had my eyes on the regular 13.

For the price, it comes with a great screen, Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, a 50MP primary camera, and up to 12GB of RAM. And not to mention that the design is pretty eye-catching too. It even comes in lots of exciting colorways.

Samsung Galaxy S22 - The Best Samsung Smartphone of 2022

The Samsung Galaxy S23 series is right around the corner. However, the regular S22 is still a great buy! As you know, Samsung is the leader when it comes to smartphone screens. And the Samsung S22 did not disappoint me in that regard. The Dynamic AMOLED panel offers excellent overall brightness, superb color production, and amazing details.

But it’s not just about the display. When it came out, it had the latest and the greatest SoC and offered up to 8GB of RAM, which is still plenty for most tasks. And now that the S23 series is about to be released, you can get the phone at incredible discounts!

So, that was my list of the best phones from 2022. And as you can see, it’s all about the value proposition for me. That’s why I did not include “Pro,” “+,” and “Ultra” models in my list. But again, it’s just my opinion. You can definitely have a different view of the phones I have discussed here.
