This is the start of the end of 'Motorola' branded phones

China's Lenovo acquired Motorola from the mighty Google, but that didn't change how buyers saw Motorola too much.

However, report emerging from Lenovo suggest that the Chinese company will soon be ditching the Motorola brand name.

What it'll do instead is offer everything apart from the high-end Motorola phones under its own Vibe branding, while high-end devices will have a bit of Motorola in them.

For that, Lenovo will use a 'Moto by Lenovo' tag, Chief Operating Officer Rick Osterloh reportedly revealed.

Reports also suggest that according to Osterloh, his team would be taking over all mobile operations at Motorola.

Motorola has been credited with producing the first mobile phone, and has quite a few iconic devices in its arsenal. While hardcore fans mightn't particularly like what's happening here, it is the way forward, at least for Lenovo who's paid a large sum of money to acquire the brand.
