Windows and Android to Marry at CES

Windows and Android to Marry at CES

What do you get when you mix a computer and a cell phone? A Smartphone. But what do you get when you mix a smartphone and a laptop? A Tablet. Mix a Tablet and a Smartphone and you'll get a Phablet. But what happens when you mix a Tablet and a laptop? Apparently you get a "PC-Plus."

Multiple outlets are reporting on rumors that multiple devices will be revealed from multiple manufacturers at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) next week in Las Vegas, Nevada that combine Windows 8.1 and Android in some way.

It is unknown at this point what exactly that will entail. It could be a system that dual boots both Android and Windows, or perhaps two separate computers that share some components including a screen, or perhaps as many have speculated, a Windows device that runs Android through emulation.

ASUS has already released a device to moderate fanfare that can run both Android and Windows with its Transformer Book Trio last fall. Bluestack is also an Android emulator that can get Android Apps running on Windows and MacOS laptops, the rumored "PC-Plus" system, however, could work differently.

Does the idea of a device or laptop running both Windows and Android appeal to you? If you haven't made the jump from Windows 7/XP to Windows 8, will this encourage you to do so?
