Windows Phone Set Get Cheaper In India - Courtesy License fee waiver by MS

Mircosoft has signed a deal with Indian phone makers Lava and Karbonn, which will allow the companies to use windows mobile with no licensing fees!

According to various industry sources with good knowledge about the negotiations, a deal has been agreed upon where MS has agreed to waive the license fee's for their mobile OS to select Indian manufactures Lava and Karbonn. This will be an encouraging point for the local manufactures to introduce Windows phones at a very affordable level.

Microsoft even collected license fees from the Nokia lumia range of products. Imagine the blockbuster hit Lumia 520 which sells for around for the price of INR 7500 with a price cut of up to 2000 INR.(20-30$ licensing fee) At a such a price it could be a great bargain.

As far Microsoft is considered it will be an opportunity to study the market reactions, Soon Microsoft may expand this waiver to other local and global manufacturers. This may be seen a strategic move by Microsoft to eat away at the low-cost phone market currently filled with affordable Android devices.
