The upcoming Xiaomi 12 Ultra smartphone has been listed on the IMEI database with some key details before launch. The new phone from Xiaomi will be reportedly the company's premium flagship offering. In other words, the much-awaited Mi 11 Ultra successor will boast an impressive array of features and carry a steep price tag. Interestingly, the Chinese tech giant did not unveil the Xiaomi 12 Ultra with the rest of the Xiaomi 12 series smartphones.

Past leaks suggest that the Xiaomi MIX 5 series was actually the Xiaomi 12 Ultra. Moreover, the MIX 5 series carrying model numbers L1 and L1A was speculated to be the Xiaomi 12 Ultra. However, the speculation didn't prove to be true. Meanwhile, the Xiaomi 12 Ultra has been subject to several speculations, with one suggesting that it will pack the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ SoC. This chip will be a notable upgrade to the newly launched Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC. Moreover, the newfangled chip is likely to launch in Q2 2022.

Xiaomi 12 Ultra Arrives On IMEI Database

An alleged Xiaomi 12 Ultra smartphone has been spotted on the IMEI database by XiaomiUI. Moreover, the handset has model number 2206122SC and reportedly carries the codename Xiaomi L2S. To recall, Xiaomi launched the Xiaomi 12 Pro back in December with model number M2001J1C. Aside from that, the phone's codename is L2. The publication has shared a screenshot of the phone's IMEI database listing. Regrettably, the Xiaomi 12 Ultra title isn't clearly visible.

However, the listed model is likely to be the upcoming Xiaomi flagship because the company previously launched the Ultra flagships carrying the "SC" suffix in the model number. To recall, the Mi 10 Ultra has the model number Xiaomi J1S (M2007J1SC). The phone made its debut back in 2020. Likewise, the model number L2S is highly likely to represent the Xiaomi 12 Ultra.

Expected Specifications & Launch Date

According to a Weibo post by a noted leaker, Xiaomi 12 Ultra is in the development stage. Furthermore, the tipster claims that the phone will come with the Qualcomm SM8475 SoC. This could be the aforesaid Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ processor. Moreover, there will not be a notable difference between the features of the Ultra lineup and the Pro version of the lineup, according to the publication. To recall, the display specifications of the Mi 10 Pro and Mi 10 Ultra were nearly the same. Likewise, the basic camera features and display specifications of the Mi 11 Pro and Mi 11 Ultra were the same.

However, the publication suggests that the Xiaomi 12 Ultra smartphone's display specs are more likely to be similar to the Xiaomi MIX 5 Pro rather than the Xiaomi 12 Pro. Aside from that, the Xiaomi 12 Ultra could retain some of the exclusive power-saving features of the MIX 5 Pro as well. If this speculation turns out to be true, the Xiaomi 12 Pro will sport the MIX 5 Pro display. As far as optics are concerned, the camera specs of the Xiaomi 12 Ultra ended up dominating the DxOMark ranking earlier this month.

To recall, the model number of Mi 10 Ultra starts with 2007, and the phone's launch was in August 2020. In other words, the Ultra devices could be launching in the coming months.
