Xiaomi Mi 9 certified in Singapore, hints at release outside of China

Xiaomi’s Mi 8 was one of the most affordable flagship phones in China that sadly did not come to many regions outside of China. However, that might not be the case with the Xiaomi Mi 9 as the handset has passed certification at IMDA in Singapore. The Info-communications Media Development Authority has certified a model number M1901F1G with the exact moniker - Mi 9. A similar model M1902F1A/T received certification at CCC (3C) in China which hints that the one just certified in Singapore is indeed a variant of the same device. The Mi 9 has not even been announced in China and it has already appeared on non-Chinese certification websites that makes us optimistic about its global debut this year.

If you’re looking for specs, the IMDA certification doesn’t reveal anything of that sort usually. However, being a flagship, we can expect the very best cutting-edge that Xiaomi always delivers with its flagships. Leaked renders have so far revealed a triple camera setup, a smaller notch design, and even an on-screen fingerprint reader to come with the unreleased handset.

Strong rumours point towards a launch this month itself if not for a surprise appearance at the MWC 2019 event scheduled to take place in around two weeks.
