Xiaomi's large-screen Mi Max 2 hits the Indian market for 17k INR

Xiaomi have unveiled their newest phablet -- the Mi Max 2 -- in the Indian market with a price tag of 16,999 INR.

The phone will be first available on the 27th of July -- a bit over a week from now -- via both online and offline channels. The Mi Max 2, if you hadn't realized, succeeds the Mi Max which didn't really get rave reviews -- mostly for the build quality which didn't seem at par with the standard.

Xiaomi seem to have rectified that with the Mi Max 2, and have made it a full unibody aluminium design. Inside, the Mi Max 2 has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of on-board storage. The phone also comes with stereo speakers.

A 12 megapixel Sony IMX386 camera managed the photography department on the phone, while all of it is powered by a rather large-capacity 5300mAh battery which now supports Qualcomm's QC 3.0.

Running MIUI 8 overlaid on Android 7.1.1, the phone is expected to get the update to MIUI 9 -- that the company has been fairly vocal about.
