Chinese brand, Xiaomi, has not really been consistent in the tablet market. After the launch of the Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 in 2018, the company did not release any other tablet until 2021, this is a 3-year space. However, back in August last year, the company launched the Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 and it will release its successor next year. Before the release of the Xiaomi Mi Pad 5, Xiaomi used to focus on mid-range tablets. However, with the Pad 5, the company added some flagship features. Now, it appears that it will make an entry-level tablet in the Xiaomi Pad 6 series. Back in May, this tablet appeared in the EEC certification database. There are also reports that this tablet series will have as many as four models. These models are L81, L81A, L82 and L83. This should correspond to the Xiaomi Pad 6, Pad 6 Pro, Pad 6 Pro 5G and a Redmi tablet.
Xiaomi Pad 6
However, the Xiaomi Pad 6 will not launch this year. The latest report regarding this tablet that appeared on Xiaomiui reports reveals that the Xiaomi Pad 6 and Pad 6 Pro appeared in the Xiaomi code base a few days ago. Among them, the code name of the Xiaomi Pad 6 is "pipa" and the model is "M82". The report also reveals that this device will come with the Snapdragon 870 chipset. The chipset also excels in terms of power efficiency, suggesting that the new tablet's battery life will improve.
Xiaomi Pad 6 Pro
The Xiaomi Pad 6 Pro as expected comes with more upgrades than the regular model. The Pad 6 Pro comes with the code name "Liuqin" and the model is "M81". This new tablet upgrades to the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, which was adopted by the previous Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro. In addition, the Pad 6 Pro no longer uses an LCD screen but uses a 120Hz AMOLED panel with a resolution of 1880 x 2880. There are two cameras on the back, a main camera, a depth camera for portraits, and a front-facing camera on the front. At the moment, there are no specific details for the cameras in this device. The Xiaomi Pad 6 Pro will however come with a four-speaker system. It also has stylus and keyboard support, and also adds an NFC function. It is reported that this Tablet PC will only be available in China.
Regrading the launch date of this tablet, there are reports that this device is still in development. Thus, its launch date will likely be in 2023. However, it is important to note that there are no official reports from Xiaomi regarding this tablet. All we have at the moment are just rumours and speculations.
Redmi Pad is already on sale
While we wait for the official launch of the Xiaomi Pad 6 series, the Redmi Pad is already on sale. The sales commenced about three weeks ago and the tablet has multiple versions. As the first tablet under the Redmi brand, the device comes with a 90Hz high refresh screen + Dolby four speakers. It also uses a huge 8000 mAh battery that boasts of a 4GB + 128GB version, 6GB + 128GB version and 8GB+128GB version. The price of the 4GB + 128GB and 6GB + 128GB versions respectively is 1099 yuan ($158) and 1399 yuan ($201).
The Xiaomi Redmi Pad has three colors which include dark grey, silver, and smoke green. This tablet comes with a thickness of 7.05mm and weighs 445g. It adopts a Unibody integrated all-metal body. Under the hood, the device uses a MediaTek Helio G99 SoC equipped with LPDDR4X memory + UFS 2.2 flash memory. It also supports MicroSD card expansion of up to 1TB storage.
In terms of display, the Redmi Pad uses a 10.61-inch LCD screen that supports a resolution of 2000 × 1200. This display also supports a 90Hz refresh rate. Other features of the Redmi Pad include 400nit brightness, 10bit color depth, support DC dimming, and a frame width of 7.05mm.
In addition, the machine is equipped with an 8000 mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging, and also has Dolby four speakers, dual microphones, dual Hi-Res certification, and a front horizontally centred 8MP lens. On the rear, it has an 8MP single camera and runs an Android 12-based MIUI 13 For Pad system.
Xiaomi Pad 6 should have flagship options
If the Pad 6 Pro uses the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, the performance will be very high. However, the price will certainly not be cheap. Nevertheless, the other chip options are more cost-effective. Most likely, the company will have an expensive as well as a cost-effective model. This will give users more options on which to purchase.
In addition to the CPU, the Pad 6 series should upgrade to 120W wired fast charging. At least, the top model will come with this flagship feature. At present, the Xiaomi Pad 5 series is up to 67W, and 120W is naturally more practical for 8000 mAh+ tablets. As for other aspects, the outside world also expects a 144Hz LTPO display, more powerful sound quality and a new version of the MIUI for Pad system. A previous report regarding the Xiaomi Pad 6 claims that this tablet will focus on the cameras. However, we do not have any information on the specific upgrades that this device will bring. Nevertheless, the Chinese manufacturer will bring very rich shooting functions and higher playability.
However, as of now, Xiaomi has not officially announced any details about its new tablet. Since the Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 hit the road in August last year, there were reports that it will launch in August this year. However, that did not happen and we are already looking towards next year.
