The Xiaomi Red Rice is the first Mediatek powered Android phone from Xiaomi. Here is a quick hands on with the phone to show it responsiveness and how well it can handle gaming.

The Red Rice is quite a big deal here in China. Not only is it the first Xiaomi phone to feature a quad-core 1.5Ghz MT6589T processor, but it is also the largest Xiaomi to date and the cheapest! Costing just 799 Yuan ($130) Xiaomi are expected to ship 100,000s of Red Rice over the coming months.

It comes as no surprise that the MT6589T chipset handles everything in its stride and the Xiaomi Red Rice would be easily up to the job of handling daily smartphone duties with the odd bit of gaming thrown in.
