Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 now official in Malaysia

Continuing its expansion is Xiaomi; after announcing plans for Africa, the company has made official the Redmi Note 2 in a market it had been operating in for a while -- Malaysia.

The Redmi Note 2 came out a while back, and caused ripples in the smartphone industry with what it had on offer. The Helio X10 SoC that it ships with was only seen on high-end phones prior to the Redmi Note 2, something that made the device an instant hit with buyers in China.

The Redmi Note 2 will sell for an attractive price of RM649 or roughly $150 in Malaysia, which I'd say is a great price to pay for the phone.

To recap over the specs of the Redmi Note 2, it comes with a 5.5-inch 1920 x 1080p display, a MediaTek Helio X10 processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB on-board storage, 13 mega-pixel rear camera, 5 mega-pixel front facing camera and a 3060mAh battery. The Redmi Note 2 is also the first Redmi series phone to have an IR blaster at its disposal, allowing you to control your household electronics right from your phone.
