HMD Global may not have the resources for competing with other giants such as Huawei or Samsung. But when it comes to its update tracking record, the company may soon sit at the top of this pyramid led by Google.
After releasing Android Pie for the Nokia 7 Plus and Nokia 6.1, the company is today seeding out the latest OS update to the Plus variant of Nokia 6.1. The model was originally released with the Nokia X6 moniker but was rebranded to Nokia 6.1 Plus after the Global release.
The Android One smartphone has been running on the Nokia Beta program for the past few weeks, and today is being contemplated with the final stable update. This OTA update was promised for this month, and with just a few remaining for the start of November, the company fulfilled this promise.
The Nokia 6.1 Plus is decent midrange contender with a Snapdragon 636, 4GB of RAM, dual camera setup on the rear, a 5.8-inch display with a top-notch, 16MP selfie snapper, and now, running Android 9.0 Pie. The latest update includes Adaptive Battery, Overhauled System UI, Google Lens Integration and more.
The next devices in line are Nokia 8 and 8 Sirocco, along with the Nokia 3, 5, 6, 5.1 Plus and even the super budget Nokia 1, 2, and 2.1. So, HMD Global may not have the most appealing smartphones out there, but the company is really concerned about keeping its adopters happy with an updated version of Android.
