Nothing Ear (1): case and specifications have been revealed
Carl Pei was one of the leaders behind the surge of OnePlus as a smartphone company. He acted as the company's no.2 until the last year when he decided to sail to new waters with its own company - Nothing. OnePlus is in a bid to become a sub-brand for Oppo, and we can now understand a little the motivations that made Carl Pei leave the company to deploy its own brand. At the start, Nothing will focus on lifestyle, wearable, and AIoT products. However, we wouldn't be surprised to see even smartphones in the future. After all, the company owns the patents of Essential - the company's behind the Essential Phone. If a smartphone will come in the future, only time will tell. For now, the company is gearing up to launch its premium true wireless earphones - the Nothing Ear (1).
Today, Nothing Ear (1) had its case revealed as well as some of its key specifications. The company is ready to deploy a decent product in a market segment that is growing in popularity every month. To put things in perspective, the segment of wearables was one of the few tech segments that didn't suffer great damage in the first months of 2020. In fact, it reached expressive numbers in sales throughout the whole year. Now, Nothing wants to establish its name in this important segment with high-quality true wireless earbuds.
Nothing ear (1) main features
Nothing's first and highly anticipated product, the Nothing Ear (1) will come to make the company's name in the segment. The new product will come with an Active Noise Cancelling feature. This has been a feature that separates the budget from the premium TWS earbuds. For those who want to enjoy a crisp and clear sound all the time, the feature certainly is a plus. The new earbuds will also focus in giving users a decent battery backup. According to the company, it offers up to 24 hours of battery life with ANC enabled. This can grow to impressive 34 hours if the ANC feature is disabled. It's great to see that users will be able to disable ANC when it isn't necessary.
The company also revealed the charging case which simply is stunning. We can clearly see that Nothing is betting on a distinct style with its case. The case itself looks like a smartwatch and fits the two earbuds. There is also a transparent glass cover that can protect the earbuds from getting dirty. According to the technical specification, this case battery has a 570mAh capacity. The charging case also offers fast-charging technology. It can provide 6 hours of battery backup with ANC enabled with just 10 minutes of charging. If you disable ANC, then 10 minutes will provide you up to 8 hours of battery life. The charging case supports wireless charging, but can also be charged through its USB C port.
Nothing will be selling the first 100 units of Nothing Ear (1) exclusively through StockX. The pricing of these units is currently reaching the €667 mark. We expect more details to emerge ahead of the next week's unveiling. The official keynote will happen on Nothing's website. Of course, we'll be covering all details. According tô reporta, the actual Earbuds will retail at $99 once available.
