OnePlus Nord 2 Warp Charger reportedly explodes while in use

The OnePlus Nord 2 isn't having a very smooth performance in the Indian market. Well, the recently released smartphone has been the target of complaints since the very first weeks. Shortly after its release, a user reported that its unit went on fire all of sudden. This first case was considered a false alarm by the company as the user failed to give further proof. Then, another case emerged. Recently, the third case came from an Indian lawyer alleging that the Nord 2 exploded in his pocket. OnePlus sent him a cease and desist letter claiming that he declined to cooperate with the company in the investigation. Now, another story has emerged.

The post quickly drew the attention of the OnePlus Support team. The team directed the owner to visit a customer care center. At the care center, the technicians examined the charger and concluded. According to them, the explosion occurred as a direct result of voltage fluctuation. The company also offered a replacement for the user.

As per a statement emailed to Gadgets 360, OnePlus India stated “We take any claim like this very seriously. The user has handed over the damaged OnePlus Charger to our service center and has been offered a replacement. OnePlus chargers contain built-in capacitors which control and store energy. In this case, after a thorough analysis, the capacitors have remained intact concluding that the blast has been caused by external factors such as voltage fluctuations". The statement also advises users to adhere to safety precautions and warnings specified in its product's user manuals.

Another blasting case involving the smartphone

These blasting cases keep surrounding the OnePlus Nord 2, but apparently, this isn't affecting the number of sales. Moreover, this isn't preventing OnePlus from keeping the sales. The new handset was the first OnePlus smartphone to come with a MediaTek chipset, in this case, a customized version of Dimensity 1200 dubbed Dimensity 1200 AI. So far, we haven't seen other Dimensity 1200 smartphones blasting, or at least, none of them reached the headlines. Let's wait and see if any more cases involving the OnePlus Nord 2 will emerge.
