OxygenOS 12 reaches for OnePlus 8, 8 Pro, 8T and 9R

OnePlus took a while to unleash OxygenOS 12 for its smartphones. While the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro were first served with the Android 12-based update, all other eligible flagships were left for a later date. Well, thankfully, the ball is finally rolling, even though it comes several months after the Android 12 release. Today OnePlus is rolling out the Android 12-based OxygenOS 12 with many new features for the OnePlus 8, OnePlus 8 Pro, 8T, and the OnePlus 9R. The only eligible flagships that are left behind are the OnePlus 7 and 7T series. Worth noting, however, that they are eligible for Android 12, but it will be their last update.

As aforementioned, the OxygenOS 12 update is reaching the OnePlus 8, OnePlus 8 Pro, OnePlus 8T, and OnePlus 9R. The updates come with package names as follows: OP8: IN2011_11.C.11 (IN), IN2015_11.C.11 (NA); OP8 Pro: IN2021_11.C.11 (IN), IN2025_11.C.11 (NA); OP8T: KB2001_11.C.11 (IN), KB2005_11.C.11 (NA) and OP9R: LE2101_11.C.14 (IN). These updates, obviously, bring the Android 12 version to the smartphones that were running previously Android 11-based OxygenOS 11. You can check a complete changelog for this update below.

OxygenOS 12 is rolling out in the gradual form

As usual, the OTA packages will roll out in a gradual form. Moreover, they're still Open Beta Test updates. So, it may take a few days until they reach the stable branch. Now, the only flagships left are those under the OnePlus 7 series. The company may also bring the update for the eligible OnePlus Nord smartphones that are still running Android 11.

Worth noting, that after criticism, OnePlus has decided to keep OxygenOS on OnePlus smartphones. Although OxygenOS 12 looks like a ColorOS branch, the new OxygenOS 13 will return to the stock Android experience. However, the company explains that core elements will still be available between ColorOS and OxygenOS. We're not sure what that means just yet, but we expect more details soon, as Google is advancing with Android 13.
