Redmi K20 Pro screen refresh rate bumped to 75Hz via software
Back in 2017, the first Razer Phone came to start a trend among modern devices. Although it saw as a niche smartphone, it came with the innovative idea of equipping a mobile device with a high refresh rate display. The Razer Phone could easily walk between the 90Hz and 120Hz refresh rate frequencies. Unfortunately, Razer's attempt in the mobile industry wasn't very successful, but we can say that other companies bought their ideas with "high-refresh rates" and "gaming smartphones". Now, it's mandatory in gaming smartphones to have a high-refresh-rate display and even mainstream companies are starting to determine it as a standard on premium flagships. Xiaomi wants to go further, and in the last year introduced the Redmi K30 mid-range phones with whopping 120Hz refresh rate. Modders were quite happy with the idea and decided to bring a high-refresh-rate to the last year's Redmi K20 Pro.
Not all smartphones in 2020 are coming with high refresh rate displays. However, developers are finding ways to implement this feature with software tweaks. The last year's flagship killer, Redmi K20 Pro is the latest phone to join this venture. The phone originally came with a 60Hz display. Now a developer in China rooted the smartphone and found a way to increase the refresh rate to 75Hz. The difference isn't comparable to 90Hz or even 120Hz displays. However, users can notice a smoother experience while scrolling through websites or during gaming sessions. This change will undoubtedly change battery life, and in the worst cases can damage your smartphone. After all, it's a mod, and there's no guarantee that it won't be a problem after long usage.
While the above solution applies to the Chinese models. There's also a mod that goes for all the remaining variants of the Redmi K20 Pro aka Mi 9T Pro. Proceed at your own risk.
