Samsung Galaxy A70 gets Type-C headphone support via an update

The Galaxy A70 is one of Samsung's succesful handsets that is part of the Galaxy A-series. While the smartphone will be getting a sequel as soon as in the next month, Samsung is keeping the software support. The company is rolling out a new update with a couple of fixes camera improvements, better security and support for Type-C headphones.

The Galaxy A70 boasts a USB Type-C port, you may think that it's weird to ship a smartphone with this port that doesn't support USB-C headphones. However, this is justified by the fact that the handset ships with a 3.5mm headphone jack. Apparently, Samsung thought that delivering support for digital audio headphones wouldn't be necessary. Thankfully, the company is bringing it now via this update. After all, if the handset has the hardware for it, why not offer a complete experience?

The update in question bears the A705GMDDU3ASI2 version number and weighs in at 648 MB. It is currently being rolled in India, but we expect to see a broader rollout in the coming weeks. Besides the new USB-C hearables support, the update also boosts the performance of the UD fingerprint scanner. Moreover, it brings the latest September Security Patch.

Unfortunately, Samsung's recent trend of adding third party bloat continues. The update also comes with the Booking and Snapchat apps. Thankfully, they can be easily uninstalled if you wish.
