Samsung kept the lead of South-Korea smartphone sales in Q4 of 2019

Once again, Samsung dominated smartphone shipments in its homeland. During the October-December 2019 period, the tech giant managed to remain as the strong leader of the market. According to a report from The Korea Herald which cites Counterpoint Research, Samsung managed a 57% market share which is down by 14% from the Q3 2019 values. Despite the decline, out of the top 10 best-selling phones were made by Samsung. The Galaxy Note 10+ 5G tops the list followed by the iPhone 11 and Galaxy Note 10 5G.

Interestingly enough, the iPhone maker comes in second place with a 28% share of the market. That is right after a 17% growth from the previous quarter, fueled by strong sales of the iPhone 11 series. Back in last year, Apple managed to impress its fans once again after tepid 2018 iPhones. As a whole, the Korean market grew by 1.6% compared to Q3 2019.

In the third place, we have another South-Korean player, LG. The smartphone vendor grabbed a total of 15% share in the segment. Of course, LG isn't experiencing its best days anymore with a continuous decline in the mobile business. Of course, while maintaining the lead, Samsung wasn't able to increase its own market share. 5G smartphones have helped to strengthen the domestic global market as a whole.
