Just yesterday Vivo announced the new Vivo Z5, which as planned went on presale on August 1st at 00:00, basically last night in China. The smartphone quickly sold out on all the e-commerce platforms including Jingdong, Tmall and Suning. The stores will start processing orders on August 6th and until then it won't be possible to pre-order the handset. Chinese users will still be able to reserve in the meanwhile though.

The Vivo Z5 is a very interesting mid-ranger coming with a 6.38-inch AMOLED display of 1080 x 2340 pixels full HD+ resolution and 19:5:9 aspect ratio. Due to the AMOLED screen, Vivo was also able to put an fingerprint scanner beneath it and add features like Always-on Display and DC dimming.

The smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 712 chipset paired with either 6GB or 8GB of RAM; meanwhile internal storage goes up to 256GB.

Cameras on the Z5 include a primary Sony 48MP shooter with f/1.8 aperture, a 120-degree 8MP ultra-wide sensor with f/2.2 aperture and a 2MP depth sensor with f/2.4 aperture. For selfies we instead have a 32MP camera with f/2.0 aperture. Needless to say the Vivo Z5 adopts Sony's 4-in-1 pixel binning technology to achieve better results in low light scenarios.
