Redmi K60 with SD8 Gen 2, Pro with SD8+ Gen 1, seriously?
At this time, if it wasn't for the passing of an important figure in the Chinese Communist Party, the Xiaomi 13 series would be in the market. However, the brand decided to postpone the release to give users time to grieve. Once the Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro get their release, the company will move to the next thing in its smartphone spectrum - the Redmi K60 series.
While the Xiaomi 13 series come from the premium segment, the Redmi K60 will continue the family of cost-effective flagships. These devices are always among the most anticipated. For that reason, the leaks and rumors have been spreading for some time.
Redmi K60 and K60 Pro alleged specs
Since the phones' launch is expected for Q1 2023, the rumors will start to align with real facts. Now, a new report from MyDrivers suggests the phones will come in January, before the Chinese New Year. However, the leak has a controversial point - it gives the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for the vanilla and the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 for the Pro. This does not make much sense, so we assume that the report has just messed up with the processors. The Redmi K60 Pro usually gets fancier features, so we don't see why Xiaomi would make it less interesting.
Anyway, the leaks suggest the Redmi K60 will have a QHD+ screen with a 120 Hz refresh rate. Moreover, it will bring 67W fast wired charging and 30W wireless charging. The phone will be the first K-series to bring wireless charging. The Pro is rumored to bring up to 120W fast charging.
In terms of optics, the Redmi K60 will bring a 64 MP main camera, 8 MP ultrawide, and a 2 MP macro camera. For selfies and video calls, it will have a 16 MP shooter. The Pro will also bring a QHD+ 120 Hz display. However, we're to get the camera details.
The brand will also bring a Redmi K60E which can bring either the Snapdragon 870 or the Dimensity 8200. Some rumors point to the former, which will be a curious choice. This model will also bring an old 48 MP main camera with OIS. The rumors even suggest older software with Android 12 and MIUI 13. The others will get Android 13 with MIUI 14. Honestly, we hope this is wrong. After all, it seems like the brand is working to make the K60E the least interesting. The other two will run Android 13 with MIUI 14. The same MIUI 14 that is set to debut with the Xiaomi 13 series.
The Redmi K60 Pro will also reach some markets as POCO F5. Both come with the model name "Mondrian", whereas the K60 is "Socrates" and the K60E is "Rembrandt".
There are still a couple of weeks ahead of the Redmi K60 series release. So we expect consistent leaks to appear ahead of that launch. As you can see in the images above, the phone's retail box already appeared. So the phones are in the last steps ahead of the release.
