Last week, Xiaomi held a much-awaited conference and unleashed two new smartphones ultra-low price tags. With the launch of the Xiaomi Redmi 5 and Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus the manufacturer made a huge move in terms of bringing a full-screen experience to larger masses. Now you don’t have to pay a fortune to acquire a full-screen smartphone carrying a top brand. Today both handsets have gone on sale with a starting price of 799 yuan ($120). Let’s recall their key features and get acquainted with the most attractive design elements.

The Xiaomi Redmi 5 sports a 5.7-inch display with a resolution of 1440 x 720 pixels and an aspect ratio of 18:9. What’s more interesting, this phone is equipped with a Snapdragon 450 chip, a new chip using an octa-core A53 architecture clocked at up to 1.8GHz. The baseband has been upgraded to X9 LTE. Thanks to it, the phone provides 4 hours longer battery life, supports for dual-camera, the CPU performance was enhanced by 25%, and finally, it comes with an Adreno 506 GPU. Apart from this, the Redmi 5 comes with a 2/3GB of RAM and 16/32GB of ROM. The rest of features include a 5MP front camera, a 12MP rear camera, and 3300mAh battery.

As for the Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus, it sports a 5.99-inch full-screen and a Snapdragon 625 chip paired with a 3/4GB of RAM and 32/64GB of internal storage. The camera sensors are the same, but the battery capacity is way larger, 4000mAh.

Both phones use all-metal unibody with a three-stage antenna design. The back panel carries a single camera and a fingerprint scanner. There are a few color options to choose from – gold, light blue, rose gold, and black.

At last, the Xiaomi Redmi 5 2+16GB variant is priced at 799 yuan, the 3+32GB comes at 899 yuan ($135), while the 3+32GB variant of the Redmi 5 Plus is priced at 999 yuan ($150) and the 4+64GB model costs 1299 yuan ($196). So you can get a full-screen smartphone under-$200 price tag.
